The challenge
Electric Avenue is a Texas e-bike shop with stores in Austin, Dallas and Houston. It carries a deep shelf of European and premium brands, Riese & Müller, Tern, Gazelle, Stromer, Urban Arrow, Yuba, Benno and Cube, and its techs build every bike before it leaves the shop.
Its website ran on WordPress, while the three shops ran their floors on Lightspeed. The two did not talk to each other. With bikes moving between stores and selling on the floor every day, the website could show a bike that had just left with a customer, or miss one that was sitting in a showroom.
The job was a redesigned online store that does the brands justice, and a bridge between the point of sale and the website so stock stays right in both places.
What we did
- Redesigned and rebuilt the online store on Shopify, with a homepage that leads with the ride and a navigation built around how people shop e-bikes: by brand and by use, cargo bikes, electric bikes, folding bikes, pedal bikes, mountain bikes, plus helmets, lights and child carriers.
- Migrated the catalogue and content from WordPress to Shopify.
- Built a sync bridge between the Lightspeed point of sale and Shopify, using Mortar and Matrixify, so a sale at the counter updates the website and an online order updates the shop.
- Put the store on our Website-as-a-Service Growth plan: ongoing monitoring, design and development hours, and calls with an e-commerce strategist.
The results
Electric Avenue now sells online from a Shopify store that is connected to the Lightspeed point of sale in its three Texas shops, with one catalogue and one stock count serving the floor and the website.
The partnership continues on a Website-as-a-Service plan, so the store keeps evolving after launch. We will add performance numbers once a full season of data is in.
